The Batten Kill Watershed Alliance Annual Meeting will be held Tuesday 12/9/14 at 7pm at the Greenwich Free Library community room. There will be light refreshments.
The library is at 148 Main Street in Greenwich, NY. Call 518.692.7157 or go to their website at www.greenwichfreelibrary.org for directions or call me at 802.375.9019.
We will review our achievements from this year and plan for the future.
The Alliance served as lead partner in four major projects:
Bank stabilization on Mill Brook in Rupert, VT for better dynamics & habitat.
Trout habitat restoration in Roaring Branch along Kelly Stand Road in Sunderland, VT.
Trout habitat restoration in the Batten Kill in Shushan, NY upstream & downstream of the confluence with Murray Hollow Brook.
Trout Habitat restoration in the Batten Kill in Arlington, VT several bends downstream of the Covered Bridge.
The Alliance supported three more projects in NY & VT as well.
If anyone wants a paper copy of our current newsletter just send me your regular mailing address. I will be posting project reports shortly.
I know this time of year can be difficult with uncertain weather and early dusk, but if you can join us to provide your guidance and comments please do so. Your support will be extremely important going forward to continue the work.
Starting next year we will try to begin holding our annual meeting in the spring to avoid doing it so late.
