I am very excited about sharing these fantastic films with community members. We have chosen a number of films related to rivers, oceans, and fisheries. We hope to also provide people with an opportunity to learn more about the outstanding natural resource that we have in the Batten Kill river system, running through our own backyards, and how to be good stewards of it.
Films will include Fishing Pono, about using traditional management techniques to restore a commercial ocean fishery in Hawaii, El Camp es Vida, about restoring the health of the land in Patagonia, the Hidden Rivers of Appalachia, about just that, and My First Fish, about a boy catching just that. The films will range in length from 4 minutes to 26 minutes, and will be presented in two segments with an intermission.
The event is sponsored by The Mountain Goat Store in Manchester Center, and supported by the Patagonia Corporation.
Raffle tickets will be $5 each, and raffle prizes will include some Orvis fishing equipment, a stay at the Quill Gordon Bed & Breakfast along with the services of a fishing guide, and a gift certificate to the Northshire Bookstore. You must be present to win a raffle prize.)
