Alliance Board member Stan Duncan of Ballston Lake has passed away after struggling with an illness for some time.
Stan was also on the board of the Clearwater Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and he worked hard and well to strengthen the ties between the two organization. He seldom missed Alliance Board meetings, even though he had quite a drive.
I first met him working to help a US Fish & Wildlife Service excavator operator plant sapling trees in a stabilized bank on the Batten Kill off Rte 29 in Jackson. It was hot and dirty work, but there he was when I came and he was still there when I left.
His dedication to the Batten Kill was strong and deep.
He will be missed.
The photos show the fresh flowers that I threw into Benedict Brook in memory of Stan today. From Benedict Brook they will eventually go into the Batten Kill, then into the Hudson, then into the Atlantic. The flowers are hard to see in some of the pictures, but I wanted to provide the overall view of the journey that they are taking for him.
